The hotel was located right across from a supermarket which made it easy to get food and amenities. Parking was also easy to navigate - we drove a rental car so not having to pay for parking was a huge plus for us. It's also located near bus stops and trams stops.
We got a wonderful view overlooking Sakurajima from our room, and it was spacious enough for our group of 4.

We liked the nearby shops, the closeness to ferry and trainstation with Shinkansen accessibility. We found a lot of different style restaurants nearby.
In our experience was 1 Queen-bed too small for 2 european people.
The free space allowed us to only open 1 suitcase at a time.

Fascinating, lively city, interesting surroundings, very approachable people. Good food, too. Public transport is well-organised and affordable, and easy to navigate. Sakurajima's brooding, smoke-spewing presence provides the city with a unique atmosphere. I recommend the Kagoshima Brands store for souvenirs and omiyage (9-1 Meizanchō, Kagoshima). And don't miss Sengenan on any account!

Kagoshima is a city with a large volcano in its back yard.
Kagoshima is a city with a large volcano in its back yard. It make for a different kind of vibe. It is also a port city with many ferries, mostly going south to the little island atchepelago that ends in Okinawa. Warmer weather than most of Japan but still pretty chill in January. Nice people, I found them friendly. I like the place.

The rural areas of southern Kagoshima are very different from the rest of Japan, with not so huge mountains and very spacious land. It gives a very nice and different vibe seeing all those flat farmlands spread along the see, with a backdrop of volcanoes and hot springs. There are also some good hiking spots. Especially, Yakushima is a paradise for hikers with its deep, pristine and quite untouched forests and streams.
Perfect location to explore Temmonkandori 15-20 minutes walk from the Kangoshima chuo station. Right across the tramp and bus stops. Near shops, restaurants, malls, bars, and so on. The class-Modern interior is amazing especially the lobby. Complementary drinks, toiletries and salt baths are beyond awesome. The smoking area was clean and you sat comfortably. Traveler friendly hotel you can leave your laugage for free. Kudos to the Lady receptionist who helped me with the bus schedule and convenient way to our destination.
They had a great French hotel employee. He showed me the room and gave a superb service in general. I could asked him everything about the hotel and Kagoshima (and did a lot). The view from the hotel Onsen was amazing and I found out the hotel was also known for that by local people. Breakfast was western style and Japanese. Everything fresh and very good. Biggest plus: every hour there is a free shuttle service bus from the hotel to Kagoshima Chuo station. I used it every day.
Great location, reasonable price, excellent service from the staff, clean rooms which also came with all essential items provided should you forget to pack. Self service laundry area, which came in handy instead of having to utilize the hotel service. Good breakfast with both western and eastern selections. Connivence store downstairs for snacks or other necessities.
Most staff spoke English well enough to communicate, much better than my limited spoken Japanese.
I got the free shuttle from Kagoshima Chuo station and had an easy check-in. The rooms are a little small but comfortable. The wifi worked well for my business needs. The onsen is clean, and I wish I had caught the view during the day. The area around the hotel isn't the most pedestrian-friendly, but there's a mall and a conbini across the street and a Starbucks around the corner. The staff were extremely friendly, and I hope to stay at this hotel again.
The hotel is located a short walk from Central Kagoshima Station. The check-in process was really smooth and the staff was very helpful. What I really loved was the concept of a take-out breakfast. Some people complain that the breakfast area is small, but if you're in Kagoshima for sightseeing, chances are you leave early anyway. Grabbing a bento to make it in time for a train was a perfect option for me! In addition, it was very tasty!!
Great location in the centre of things in Kagoshima city- right at Tenmonkan, the busy shopping and eating area with a tram stop just a step away. Very comfortable bed and wonderful “rain” shower in a booth rather than over a bath. Nice bonus massage chair in the room and lots of very nice tea (bags) to take freely at reception (kettle, mugs and small fridge in room). Best shower gel and shampoo- not the usual hotel stuff.
The hotel is located a few minutes walk from Kagoshima’s Tenmokan with plenty of shopping and dining opportunities. The hotel staff spoke an amazing English - which helps a lot - was always helpful when I needed tips or advices. The room was perfectly clean and silent, with brand new furniture. At the last floor there is a small balcony with a magnicent view over Sakurajima dake.
The hotel is a luxury property in a beautiful location directly facing Sakurajima volcano and overlooking the city of Kagoshima and Kinko Bay. The service was excellent and the rooms were comfortable and immaculately clean. The onsen shares the stunning view.
Location was great for restaurants and sightseeing around Kagoshima. It's convenient location along a streetcar line made it easy to access from Kagoshima-chuo Station. Hotel is also near bus stop for the Kagoshima Airport Limousine, too.
Kind service especially during emergencies situation of typhoon attack. Great thx for the professional services of all staff of FAV Hotel and the offer of same rooms for catering 18 ppl of our need of extra stay on 9-10/8.
The view of Sakurajima from the hotel room window was unmatched. It's a wonderful location right by the bus station to the airport and the staff were friendly and polite. A good place to stay
